What's going on Maximal Beings, Doc Mok here and bringing you this special update episode, there are a lot of things happening in the world right now, but again, I just wanted to give an update to all of you about what's going on with podcasts, the website, and the medical climate today. So as many of you may have seen online, my team has decided to drop our social media profiles as a result of a lot of the pandering on news channels from Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Meta. This was a difficult decision to make because of the mission of the podcast, and you know that is to get correct information out there, which I think is something that is becoming less and less common these days. However, for me, I don't feel the need to present information that will actively get censored in a manner that is full of bias. I'll give you an example of a friend of mine who is a lawyer, and what he does is defend people that have been the victim of corruption from our legal system. And he recently, on social media, rebuked a comment that was terribly hateful towards individuals in Los Angeles that are being affected by fires out there. The individual that made this comment about people that are suffering from fires and laughed about it did not suffer a bullying charge, but my friend, who is a lawyer and made some arguments about the harm that this individual is doing, did get cited by Meta and had repercussions as a result of his account, which seems unfair. I think when it comes down to it, you know, as a society, we need to reframe that we're all people and our voices do deserve to be heard, regardless of which side of the political spectrum we rely on. There are various venues to be able to do that, like podcasting, and I think that we need to utilize these more free and open avenues to be able to express our opinions openly and additionally, you know, personal harm, health, and well being is really all you have, other than your ethics at the end of the day. And for people to create tribalism and wish harm upon others that are human beings, I think need to introspect about what they'll do if they were faced in such a situation, like the people here in Florida, when we're, you know, in the middle of a hurricane. So just pivoting a little bit, you know, one of the other things I wanted to talk about is medical misinformation. You know, I think there, there are some interesting picks coming up for our upcoming people in charge of this country, one of which is RFK Junior, as a physician, I feel mixed about this as a functional medicine doctor. Number one, he makes some great points regarding how awful this country is in terms of the way that we eat, the way that we create our food system. But I think on the flip side, this is kind of mixed up with a lot of rejection of, you know, common science when we don't have the disadvantage of having suffered through something like polio. I mean, certainly we had SARS COVID-2, which was a pretty rare event, but personally, I had family members that lost their lives to polio weeks before a vaccine came out. And none of us have had to go through polio. If you've had a similar situation, hit me up at [email protected] I'd love to hear your thoughts, potentially bring you on the podcast to hear your opinions about vaccinations. You know, I don't think that on an individual level, vaccinations cause autism. I think autism is multifactorial. I think some of it has to do with the toxins in our food system. I think there's great data to support that statement, data that is getting to be older now, so people don't find it when they search things. They find the top hit when they search things. And there's a reason why, you know, we have vaccinations against these terrible illnesses, because they used to sweep across our country and lead to mass loss of life. So consider yourself lucky that you live in this era, and if you don't want a vaccination, that is your prerogative as a person. But the reason why we schedule our vaccinations, the way that we do, is to prevent healthcare crises like this and the repercussions of it, I'm certain that if your child was going to lose their life due to polio, you would have wished that you had vaccinated them against that. But again, it's your right and your you know, your your right to decide that for both yourself and for your children, it is not the right of somebody to tell me that I cannot get vaccinated because of whatever rhetoric or belief that they think that they know based on pseudoscience. I also feel very disappointed in Mark Hyman, who is a colleague of mine and was in Cleveland for a long time at the Cleveland Clinic. He's one of the leaders in the functional medicine space, and he's just kind of jumped right on the bandwagon with these other individuals, you know, starting some pseudoscience. And he used to be an individual that looked towards the evidence. He's done a lot of health advocacy, and I think that his message is clear and strong, and we all appreciate you advocating for improvements in the food system, but I think that he's getting a little bit off the rails these days, and if he's listening to this, which I know he's listened to our podcast, I just wanted to tell him that, you know, stay true to your beliefs and your mission, and don't get taunted by things that will gain you more followers and clicks. Lastly, we've talked about Joe Rogan here before, and his podcast. You know, Joe Rogan, back around COVID, was spouting a lot of information about COVID-19 and the use of Ivermectin. And I'm certain that all of you have thoughts about this. I personally have taken Ivermectin when I left my time in the West Indies, because parasites are very common there, and it's standard to take a course of anti-parasitic drug to treat parasites that you may have picked up while living in those environments. Ivermectin is not a horse anti-parasitic drug. It is a human anti-parasitic drug as well. You know, I think people like that. It's so taboo that it was a horse anti-parasitic drug, but it is available for commercial use in humans. There were anecdotal studies showing improvement, like what Joe Rogan has cited about himself in recovery from COVID-19. There were interesting news spins about his recovery showing that he was more ill than other people, which was not true, but when we've done randomized trials for which there have been two major trials, one of which is published in the New England Journal of Medicine and one of the top medical journals in the world, you know, involving over 3500 patients. This medication did not halt the course of COVID-19 mild to moderate disease speed recovery, and it did not lead to adverse events in this 3500 patient population, randomized fashion, as compared to a placebo drug. So a drug that does absolutely nothing to the human body, and this also was there's another study published in JAMA over 1500 patients with exactly the same result. So Ivermectin does not appear to have benefit for COVID 19. But like all things, sexy things, controversial things, grab headlines, randomized trials of great quality evidence do not gain headlines. Do not get media play, and yet, here the data remains. It just takes time people for the science to catch up to those little case reports. And if we based everything upon case reports, God knows what your doctor would be doing to you. The other thing I wanted to talk about is his recent interview with Mel Gibson. Mel Gibson loved his movies back in the 90s. Braveheart is one of my favorite movies of all time. But as somebody in America with Jewish lineage, I cannot, in good fashion, support this man. Additionally, he's just trying to grab the limelight. You know, he certainly has had his struggles with alcohol use. He's had scandals come out with videos and tapes and his abuse of people that he's related to. And I think that this is just another grab at attention. He clearly has religious messages. He clearly has his own agenda, and this agenda, I think, is also very harmful as an individual that interacts with cancer patients in the post procedure area, sitting across from a very educated patient of mine, who is, had esophageal cancer that we took out endoscopically, we froze his esophagus and got rid of his pre-cancerous cells and is now in remission completely, asked me about my thoughts of Ivermectin for cancer prevention. Based upon this interview between Mel Gibson and Joe Rogan. Now, both Mel Gibson and Joe Rogan are not stupid people. They clearly are smart enough to have been as successful as they are. Joe Rogan, podcast is the best podcast out there in terms of reviews. I personally think it is a boring, boring podcast. If you have two hours to kill to listen to that thing, good for you. I, in particular do not enjoy it, but I understand that it is the most popular podcast at this point in time, and Mel Gibson, arguably one of the most successful actors in the 90s, with Braveheart and the Patriot et cetera. But things have changed, and the climate has changed, and these voices are not as important, I think, and should not be important in the medical space, do you want Braveheart to be removing your esophageal cancer? I don't. So why on earth would you take advice from Mel Gibson? Because he says he has four friends. Don't know who they are, with some sort of cancer, that are taking Ivermectin and a few other medications. Now, there are data for Ivermectin in cancer tumor genesis. It interferes things like tumor tumor necrosis factor alpha and transformation growth factor beta, and it has had early animal data to show interferences with the wind pathway, converting tumor cells in a petri dish to from cold tumors where there's low blood flow, to hot tumors with higher metabolic activity, which make them easier for cancer chemotherapy. And there are a few reports of people taking this in combination with traditional medical therapy and showing some promising early results. But just like we talked about earlier in this podcast, with Ivermectin, a few patients with maybe some benefit does not correlate to everything. If you've kept in touch with any of the information on cancer research now, cancer care is so individualized for the reason being that we are complicated human beings. Each of us has an individual soup that the cancer is stewing in, and each cancer behaves completely differently from person to person. So making a broad generalization with four of your friends is a terrible thing to do, and it's a terrible thing to do to desperate people that are looking for a solution during a time where they're most vulnerable. So you should be ashamed of yourself, Mel Gibson, you should stay in your lane and continue acting. And Joe Rogan, I really do not appreciate the fact, as a physician in America, that you are propagating messages like this because it's leading to a lot of misinformation in the community that all of us that are actually working in the medical proof field have to clean up. So stay in your lane, stay with UFC fighting and whatever else, and you know, I'll keep talking about the evidence. Okay, thanks.
